We are currently accepting applications for our Editorial Board. Applicants need not be associated with academia, politics or have media backgrounds. We seek to create a board with diverse eclectic interest - although a keen understanding of social issues is essential. Members of the Editorial Board are primarily responsible for helping to review submitted articles. Additionally, they are expected to help with publicizing new article postings and distributing the Social Issues website link, as well as assisting with whatever occasional needs or requests arise. As the duties of Editorial Board members depend largely upon topical interest and volume of submissions we receive, there is no set time commitment. The role of the board is to suggest ideas; advise on content and presentation strategy. It is strictly voluntary, unpaid and the main requirement is to be responsive to email inquiries requesting you review submitted material. We have professional editors on staff so we only ask that you read for quality of content and appropriateness of the material sent to you. On average, once a month we will send a board memo that will serve as an update. We seek board members that will bring energy, enthusiasm, and esprit de corps to the e-journal. In helping to review submissions, Editorial Board members play a vital role in the quality and success of the e-journal. Therefore, we expect that applicants are capable of and committed to appreciating the subtleties of arguments they evaluate - doing background reading or research may be necessary in assessing article submissions. Although the e-journal is structured to a specific theme submissions are not restricted to a single topic since many social issues are wide-ranging in scope. We attempt to list many articles relevant to recent developments and discussion. Therefore, it is beneficial for our board to be similarly wide-ranging in their awareness of current affairs and public debate; we value all input, unique insights and perspectives ranging from all disciplines can bring to the e-journal. Please be patient with our approval process and in assembling our team as we are in the very early stages of research and launching the e-journal. Thank you. Send your application to SOCIAL ISSUES 11664 National Blvd #150 LA CA 90064 or you may e-mail me at Mike@SocialIssues.com Always Appreciative, Michael D.
